It’s generally not recommended to jump into the ocean or pool water immediately after bleaching your hair, as both saltwater and chlorine can damage bleached blonde hair.
- Pool Water (Chlorine): Chlorine can strip the hair of moisture, leaving it dry, brittle, and prone to breakage. Bleached blonde hair can also turn green from the chlorine reacting with copper in the water.
- Ocean Water (Saltwater): Saltwater can dehydrate hair, making it more prone to damage. Since bleached hair is already fragile, salt can worsen dryness and cause breakage.
Tips if you want to swim:
- Wear a swim cap to protect your hair.
- Rinse your hair with fresh water before and after swimming to reduce absorption of chlorine or saltwater.
- Apply a leave-in conditioner or oil to act as a protective barrier.
